My happy life in Meadowbrook
I’ve been a member from 2010 to 2016. From my first visit I fell in love with the place. I didn’t expect a place like this in Shanghai…The MB team looks after the horses with warm heart and make sure each are not overworked, receive plenty of rest and care.
After a short while I started spending a lot of time helping in Meadowbrook with my knowledge..rode horses in dressage training, gave lessons, provided dental treatment to horses (I am a horse dentist), judge dressage competitions in Equitation Days and happy to see all the students improving their skills over time.
All members of the Wong family became real friends and make our life in China easier and happier. I went back home to Germany with a lot of tears in my eyes – Ina Schalles (Full article with more pictures)
Always a special place to me
I started riding at Meadowbrook in 2008 and was devastated when I left last year. It will always be a special place to me… I remember looking forward to the weekends and holidays where I could spend hours on end with the horses and my friends. Although it was sometimes challenging, I could always count on Ed, Spencer and the interns to brighten up my day.
One of the most special memories I have is the first tournament in Nov 2011. I was really nervous but everyone thee helped me get through it and it turned out to be a lot of fun…From just spending time with Bage in the paddocks to riding on tiny ponies as Santas, I loved it all. I just want to thank everyone who made my time here so special. I miss you and will never forget all that you have done for me. – Lara Drewes (Full article with more pictures)
A Dream Club in Shanghai
excerpt translated from original French version…
Meadowbrook is a facility where the Wong family spirit is filled with conviviality, openness to others, sharing ideas and skills, where everyone, young and old, parents and children can find their place. It’s a club where they implement a quality approach for riding, respectful of the riders and their expectations but also the horses!
The entire MB team looks after the well-being of the horses. They are worked with respect of their morphology and their aptitudes, with patience. Here, no over exploitation or abuse. They are happy horses and riders!
Really, I’m glad to join the MB Team! Thanks to the Wong family and all his team for allowing me to take a breath of fresh air in a green environment and practice my passion in such a warm atmosphere and with ponies and horses so endearing!– Marie Chausse (Original French version)
Champion Janine Khoo learnt to ride at MB in 2004
My daughter Janine learnt to ride in Meadowbrook in 2004. Ebe fitted Janine’s first ever pair of riding boots and Ed patiently taught her to ride on Chu Chu. I just wanted to drop a short note to say a big thank you as Janine did go on to represent Singapore in Showjumping at two SEA (South East Asian) Games, 2013 and 2015, winning 2 gold medals, one individual and the other a team gold. She also competed in many International competitions, in Germany, Spain and Asia. She’s hung up her boots now, presently studying to be a vet, but I just thought you may like to know that your stable and your efforts in her early years gave her a wonderful introduction to riding and will always bring back many fond memories for us. So thank you again and blessings to you. – Carol Khoo
One of the best summer experiences
My two week internship at Meadowbrook was one of the best summer experiences I’ve had. I was introduced to what horsemanship is really about, not just about being able to sit on a horse, but all the preparation and training you and the horse must go through to maintain a healthy lifestyle, a stimulating ride, and reflecting on how you can improve…. The success of a rider does not only depend on the one hour he or she spends in the saddle, but the work an attention to detail they give in all the hours they’ve not in the saddle. – Megan Zhao
